Cupid says they have to marry before the stroke of midnight New Year's Eve. Fate has other plans.

The gaping hole in Giselle Baylor’s heart is ten years old and still bleeding. Matthias “Matt” Tyler Hall dumped her before the high school senior prom, and she’s never recovered. Enter Nelly Steeple, a swearing, tattooed, multi-pierced, Shakespeare-hating Cupid to sprinkle life into Giselle’s lack of romance. She must marry Matt before the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve or be alone forever. It would also delay Nelly’s retirement by a century. Not gonna happen even if it means she drags them to the altar.
Picking up where they left off is impossible. Matt, a war photojournalist, has been injured and has a daughter. Giselle is beyond successful and wealthy. Their common ground is in the past. Is it enough to pull them into the future?

Excerpt:

A hush and then loud whispers
sprang from the crowd. People pointed at the entrance. Two men entered, one dressed as King Lear with a white flowing beard and gown, the other in black jeans, white shirt, and black uniform jacket.
“Fairest queen, I’ve come to pay homage and present my fool for your amusement,” Matt said with a bow.
Everyone laughed.
“Hey, that was my line,” King Lear said as they made their way to the front.
Giselle’s mouth went dry, and Allie licked her lips.
He’s here. My biggest fear and wildest dream wrapped into one. Why didn’t I drink the shot of tequila? Or twelve of them?
Told ya. Why do you doubt me?
Nelly hummed a wedding march as she cleared away empty glasses.
The ballroom’s walls closed in. Giselle pulled at the collar of her costume. Too warm and gulping for air, her vision dimmed. She stumbled back to the bar.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Nelly ushered her to a chair.
“I can’t see him. I can’t go through it again. I have to go.”
“Ah, there’s your love. Come hither, my sweet, and meet your match,” Ms. McArdle said and extended her hand to Giselle.
Her feet froze to the floor.
“Go,” Nelly said under her breath.
A path cleared for Giselle, and everyone started to applaud.
